This is how heating with ice works

While the ice storage heater is in operation, the first heat exchanger removes the energy from the liquid water and passes it on to the heat pump. This is where the compression process takes place, in which a refrigerant is first evaporated and then compressed. The resulting heat can be used for both heating and hot water preparation.
