On a former barracks site - the former Emscher barracks - we have been realizing a family-friendly, modern residential area with 135 single-family houses and 6 multi-family houses on a plot of around 88,000 m² in 9 construction phases since 2020. The single-family houses include garages and outdoor parking spaces as well as open spaces with terraces and gardens. The residential development is flanked by a two-row day-care center with an outdoor area, which will be located in the central green area. Completion is scheduled for 2024. The first residents moved into their houses at the end of 2021, and the last houses in the 8th and 9th construction phases are now available.

The quarter, located on the south-western outskirts of the city, blends seamlessly into the surrounding area, which is characterized by agricultural areas, the Emscher and the Sölder Bruch. The new residential area is characterized by a green axis that runs from north to south through the emerging future neighborhood.

The quarter is accessed via two public access roads from Sölder Strasse to the north. The connection of a new bus stop is planned, as well as public charging stations for electromobility. Within the area, a new ring road will branch off into six small, private and quiet residential cul-de-sacs.

The homes are built according to the latest technical standards. Air heat pumps ensure a sustainable supply that is independent of fossil energy.
