Wunstorf – city with the largest local recreation area

The town church of St. Bartholomäi and the collegiate church of St. Cosmas and Damian from the 11th/12th century, the former abbey from the 16th century, town houses, aristocratic farms and the former watermill are evidence of Wunstorf's eventful past - also in the immediate vicinity of the new building.

A small village settlement was first mentioned as early as 700, and in 871 the monastery “Vuonherestorp” was placed under royal protection. Wunstorf consists of the core town and nine towns, including the well-known “Steinhude”.

This also applies to the various activities on the Steinhuder Meer - just a few minutes' drive away: "Steinhuder Meer in Flames", the weekly markets in the historic Scheunenviertel, the butterfly museum, the island of Wilhelmstein and also the bathing island are always worth a visit. By bike around the Steinhuder Meer - 42 kilometers, which is worth it because it leads through a beautiful nature reserve and offers plenty of opportunities to stop off. If 42 kilometers are too far for you, take a shortcut - the emigrant boats take you by water from Steinhude to Mardorf opposite or vice versa.

A few kilometers further is Wiedensahl, the birthplace of Wilhelm Busch with a museum of the same name. Romantik Bad Rehburg, the Loccum Monastery, the Dino Museum in Münchehagen or the golf course in Rehburg-Loccum.
