The more than 1,200-year-old town of Lübbecke is situated in attractive, natural surroundings on the northern slope of the Wiehengebirge. Today, the city with approx. 26,000 inhabitants presents itself on the one hand as an important location for trade, services and commerce and on the other hand as an attractive destination with numerous sights. Extensive hiking trails encourage wonderful walks in the mountain forest or moor. Far away from traffic noise and the hustle and bustle of the big city, you can still find peace and relaxation here. With the restored and functional Königsmühle in the district of Eilhausen, Lübbecke is part of Mühlenstraße in the Minden-Lübbecke district. Over 40 wind, water, horse and ship mills can be visited: nowhere else in Germany is there such a large number of functioning mills of the most varied types. The city center is characterized by old, colorfully designed house facades. Annual folk festivals, such as the well-known beer fountain festival, the Blasheimer market or the sausage market, are attractions for guests from near and far.
