In Darmstadt's Lincoln settlement, “Mary & Abe” brings a vision of modern, urban living in the countryside to life. Their famous namesakes were also visionary: Abraham "Abe" Lincoln is still one of the most popular presidents of the United States thanks to his struggle for a united America and the abolition of slavery.
Her love for the odd Kentucky man, against the will of her family, also put Mary to the test.

The Lincoln Settlement
The "Lincoln Family Housing Area" is a residential quarter with a very special history: until 2007, American soldiers lived here with their families. With the handover, these areas have taken on a completely different meaning: this is where Darmstadt's vision of an economically strong, diverse, culturally rich and ecologically oriented city takes shape.

The "lincolnmobil" mobility concept puts the individual needs of people in the foreground. Public transport, car sharing, bicycle and pedestrian traffic all play well together. Everyone can get around easily with the HEAGmobil concept in the way that best suits them and their way of life. Mary & Abe means living up to date - worthwhile rather than "car-friendly" living.
Homes at the cutting edge - liveable instead of car-friendly
The concept of the Lincoln settlement as a low-car district permits relaxed living, especially for families with children. One of 21 car parking spaces in the in-house underground car park or in a nearby parking garage can be booked in accordance with the city of Darmstadt's mobility concept. A practical drop-off zone enables all residents to park in the underground garage for a short time, for example to unload purchases. With the elevator or the stairs you can reach the house entrances directly from the inner courtyard. All apartments are accessible via the in-house lifts.
Funded Basic Condominiums
The state of Hesse supports the construction or purchase of condominiums for owner-occupancy with a Hessen building loan. 53 condominiums in our Mary & Abe building complex are intended for purchase for families with incomes within the limits of the State of Hesse property purchase promotion scheme.
We therefore only offer these apartments to applicants whose income is within the limits outlined in the guidelines from July 3, 2013. In these cases, purchase prices are only €3,900.00 per m² of living space. Sales may only be made to applicants who can prove their eligibility with a corresponding certificate issued by the city. A Hessen building loan can be applied for, but is not necessary.
Income limits
The following income limits must not be exceeded (gross figures are given as an example for income from employment).
So for example a family with one child must have an annual gross income of maximum €73,520, two children up to €86,440.
