LAND, MAIN, SKYLINE

Oberrad is the “green lung” of Frankfurt and has around 13,650 inhabitants. The population has been increasing continuously for many years. This reflects the high quality of life. Oberrad is only 3 km south of the banks of the Main - on the opposite bank is Frankfurt's Osthafen in the Ostend district. The ECB has its headquarters here. The striking landmark is the 184 m high ECB Tower. The ECB's property is far away from Frankfurt's banking district, where most other banks are based.

BANKING DISTRICT

From the Deutschherrnbrücke you can see the high-rise bank buildings. The financial district is not an independent district and has no officially defined boundaries. Today, areas of the western city center, the eastern train station district and the southern Westend are allocated to the banking district. The banking district is named after the banks located here, which have their headquarters at these locations. These include major German banks such as Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, DZ Bank and Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen. There are also numerous prestigious offices of foreign banks such as Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley in Frankfurt's banking district.

THE OLD OPERA - DOWNTOWN

The Alte Oper is one of the most popular meeting places in the city center. The Opera Square with the Old Opera House and the babbling fountain offers a truly picturesque backdrop. Due to its central location, Opernplatz is the ideal starting or ending point for shopping and dining. You can relax in one of the small cafés on the square and enjoy the romantic atmosphere. If the weather is bad, you can also have a coffee directly in the Alte Oper. The Zeil between Konstabler- and Hauptwache, one of the busiest shopping streets in Germany, is also busy. Hungry after shopping? Right next door is Große Bockenheimer Straße, popularly known as “Fressgass”, with international cuisine and local “Stöffche”.
