Degerloch, a picturesque district on the southern edge of Stuttgart city center on the Filder plain, combines urban flair with breathtaking nature. Created in 1956 from the merger of the municipality of Degerloch and the district of Hoffeld, the district fascinates with its unique location on the northern edge of the Filder plateau, which offers a spectacular view over the city.
Degerloch impresses with its altitude, which is around 200 meters above Stuttgart city center. In the north the terrain slopes steeply towards the city center, while in the south it slopes gently towards the Ramsbachtal. Fields, meadows and gardens surround the development to the west and south, while an extensive forest extends to the east. The residential development in the north merges seamlessly with that of the city center. Unique vineyards in the southwest decorate the landscape and are reminiscent of Degerloch's long wine-growing tradition.
Degerloch has excellent public transport connections. The Neue Weinsteige (B 27) connects the district with the city center and the A 8. The rack railway (line 10) has been running since 1884 and offers a nostalgic connection to Marienplatz in Stuttgart-South. Numerous light rail lines (U5, U6, U8, U12) run through Degerloch and ensure quick connections in all directions. Buses complement the offer, and a bus line runs to the airport on trade fair days. For the short route, the funicular (line 20) is available between Waldfriedhof and Südheimer Platz in Heslach.
