Burgfarrnbach itself is older than Nuremberg or Fürth: the first documented mention is from the year 903. It was definitely mentioned in 1287. Historically grown, Burgfarrnbach has been part of the city of Fürth since 1923.
Today's castle was built between 1830 and 1834 - as a replacement for the demolished moated castle. With the incorporation of Burgfarrnbach, the city of Fürth finally “received” a castle, which it bought in 1968. The city of Fürth itself did not have a castle or anything similar before.
The St. Johannis Church with its 68m high tower in Burgfarrnbach can be seen far beyond its borders. It is a landmark of the historic church, which is around 730 years old (roughly its current appearance).
Burgfarrnbach itself has a lot to offer: The local recreation areas (e.g. the beautiful city forest, the Farrnbachtal, the Regnitztal, etc.) will invite you to take long walks. Everything you need for your daily needs is close by. Even schools, banks or just the bus stop... everything is within walking distance.
