Anyone who lives in Mainz describes the local attitude to life as – the Mainz feeling*. The cathedral, the old town, life on the Rhine, the wine bars, the beautiful squares and the Mainz market breakfast on Saturday - conviviality and openness characterize the atmosphere of the friendly state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, which has almost 216,000 inhabitants.
Havn is being built in the newer part of the city and, in its micro-location, benefits from the offerings and variety of the new customs port. The distances to a wide range of everyday offerings are short - just like a walk into the Neustadt, which has been carefully renovated in recent years. Characteristic here are the many squares and traffic-calmed streets, the pubs and cafés, the small shops and craft workshops.
The realization of the Mainz customs port began in 2011 with the first development section on the southern pier. After more than 125 years, the port operation said goodbye and space opened up for a new city quarter directly on the Rhine. Today people have been living, working, shopping and relaxing by the water on the Südmole and along Rheinallee for a long time. The next transformation is now taking place on the north pier and along the northern harbor basin. In the coming years, one of the most beautiful water districts in the Rhine-Main region will be completed here in the middle of the city on an area of approx. 22 hectares.
