Bergen-Enkheim has been the easternmost district of Frankfurt am Main since January 1, 1977 and is now home to around 17,000 residents. A considerable part of the district is taken up by the Frankfurt green belt. Bergen-Enkheim is known for its active club life and has the highest number of clubs of all Frankfurt districts. The southern side of the Berger Rücken, formerly covered with vineyards, is now a preferred residential area. In the center of the district is the "Hessen-Center", a shopping center which houses more than 110 shops and service providers on an area of 72,000 square meters. The shopping opportunities in Frankfurt Bergen-Enkheim are supplemented by various supermarkets, discounters and specialist shops, which are distributed throughout the district.
